Autumn & Brian’s Trash the Dress @ Red Rock

When I discovered that Autumn and Brian’s all-time favorite thing to do as a couple is taking road-trips to explore the world (they have seen almost all the of U.S. and Canada together), I couldn’t wait to play it up a little in their trash the dress photo-shoot! They also love visiting the national parks while traveling from place-to-place. In their 5 years together they’ve been to over 100 national parks across the country – from California to their home-state Colorado to Florida’s everglades. So for our location it was only fitting that we explore one of Las Vegas’s treasures, Red Rock Canyon National Park!

We also incorporated a fun “road-trip” theme for some of the shots. What better way than cruising through the mountains in a red mustang convertible!
Autumn was looking stunning in her Oleg Cassini wedding gown…

A+B: Thanks for an amazing day, for being up-for-anything and rockin’ it out in the Vegas heat with me! I had so much fun with you guys. :-)

Kristen & Marlon’s Day After Session

Meet Kristen & Marlon:

Kristen and Marlon came out from New York City for an intimate Las Vegas wedding with close family. We got together the next day for a day-after trash the dress session downtown.

These two are easy going and up-for-anything, which made hanging out and exploring the streets with them a total blast. And I think the photos we captured really show their chemistry and love for each other.

I love their retro style! Kristen was rockin’ a beautiful feather headpiece and Marlon a vintage skinny tie.

They were also sporting some awesome converse shoes!

Cara & Nathaniel’s Knitting Themed TTD

Meet Cara and Nathaniel: a super sweet, laid-back couple from Canada who came out to celebrate their wedding here in Vegas. Cara booked me to capture some cool couples images of her and Nathaniel while they were in town for the wedding. And when I found out that she’s an avid knitter (and even has her own blog dedicated towards all her latest knitting projects – Reckless Glue), I couldn’t resist playing it up in our trash the dress session! You see, I absolutely love doing themed shoots (themed engagement sessions, day-after, trash the dress sessions, you name it.. I can’t get enough) or just adding a few unexpected elements that are unique to my couples. I love that it makes things much more personal. :-)

So as a little prop he brought along an issue of his favorite magazine, Ugly Things, all about sixties garage bands. And Cara rocked a copy of Knitting for Dummies! Kerri’s NOLA Trash the Dress

Here’s a few more photos from Kerri’s trash the dress in New Orleans!

Kerri's Trash the Dress | New Orleans, LA

During my shoots I often like to go to a location and have fun just exploring the little hidden wonders it has to offer. It’s my way of keeping things fresh and fun. These next couple images were photographed in a little alley-way on one of the backstreets. You could barely see it from the street and we almost just walked right by.

First stop: the dry lakebed…

Dennise + Harvey NYC Trash the Dress

Dennise's Trash the Dress | Central Park NYC

It’s so beautiful in Central Park during the fall – with all the leaves beginning to turn and fall from the trees. So we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have a little fun with Dennise and Harvey playing with them! It took us a while to gather up all these leaves – but this image pretty much sums up their personality together, so it was a definite must-have!

Fall Leaves | Dennise's Trash the Dress | Central Park NYCAs night fell, we wandered out of the park.
I loved the magic feel of the street lamps so I couldn’t resist sneaking a few night shots as we left:

Dennise's Trash the Dress | NYC, New York

Dennise's Trash the Dress | NYC, New YorkDennise and Harvey first met at a little Starbucks coffee stand at their school. As Dennise stood in line one day, Harvey boldly criticized her choice of beverage and suggested his ’special’ white chocolate mocha. Apparently – the mocha was good. She couldn’t stop thinking about him (or the mocha) after that… So this rainy little seating area in the middle of Times Square gave us the perfect excuse to grab some hot drinks and reminisce.

We all love NY!"I love New York" | Dennise's Trash the Dress | Times Square NYC

Typically Jayse and I will warn our couples “You will get tired before we do – so tell us when you can’t take any more photos!”. We get so into it and have so much fun I think sometimes we could just shoot until our memory cards are full. (And, as we usually carry over 70GB on us, that could be quite a while! ;-) Harvey and Dennise, however, never got tired. And neither did we. We stopped to have hot dogs, starbucks, dinner and drinks – and then kept going after that in the rain… at 1am… So it became a bit of a marathon shoot and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Thanks for such a fun time in the city guys!

November 30, 2009 - 6:25 am Brian Smith - Fantastic, Fantastic, Fantastic !!! Chelsea you are an amazing photographer, I hope to achieve the same level of craftsmanship and execution that you showcase every time you shoot. Your images are proof that you know how to bring out the very best in every subject as well as showcase your unique talent for using these things we refer to as our kids (at least us Canon guys do :)). Keep up the amazing work and if ever in Florida, look us up and we'll get a photo shoot together!

November 28, 2009 - 5:31 pm Dawn - Awesome as always. I LOVE the tree photo. That's like what I was trying to get here in MI but my photographer blew it. Chelsea when are you coming to the midwest!!??

November 28, 2009 - 1:59 pm Dennise - These pictures are honestly a dream come true for me... Chelsea and Jayse, how can I ever thank you for these awesome memories you both captured for Harvey and myself? The more I look at these pictures, the more I am falling in love them them! And I can't wait to see all the other pictures we took that day! (Cuz boy did we take pictures! lol) So much fun and I will never forget it! We'll be seeing you both in Vegas! Love you guys!!! =o)

November 28, 2009 - 11:54 am Harvey - Chelsea and J are freakin awesome! The use of light through out all the pictures is just brilliant. I think the subway pictures are my favorite because seeing the faces of people coming off the trains, after seeing us there, was priceless. There are many other pictures that were taken (like on a NYC cab) that I am looking forward to seeing. Chelsea when you are taking photos of the celebrities don't forget us little people ;) ... We love you both... I am reading books on counting cards... See you in Vegas :)

Jamie and Arnold’s NYC TTD!

A couple weeks ago Jayse and I were in New York City for a trash the dress with Jamie and Arnold. I cannot say enough about this fab couple! Jamie is a ‘drop-dead-wow’ type jewelry designer and Arnold runs the business side of both Brian Danielle and their extremely popular online store Max and Chloe. I always love working with other small business owners and creative types – We just seem to click. And we definitely clicked!

We started off right too – at the cute and cozy La Bottega Restaurant inside The Maritime Hotel in the Meatpacking District in Manhattan.  Although we hadn’t planned on it originally – the lovely staff graciously let us photograph inside during business hours. They carefully set two place-settings at the very same booth where Arnold had proposed. This was, by the way, also where they shared their very first date and celebrated their engagement party. So, yeah – an important place to capture!

It was so much fun hearing their story. For the proposal Arnold had gotten the restaurant manager and staff involved to bring the ring out on a silver platter and make it a romantic little surprise. Can ya blame me for wanting to recreate it on camera? :-)

Afterward, we drove across the bridge to explore Dumbo Brooklyn, a favorite area of theirs that’s filled with art, grunge and fantastic views of the Manhattan Skyline.

I mentioned Jamie’s a fab-U-lous designer – so it’s no surprise she has such incredible taste! She looked stunning in her custom Monique Lhuillier wedding gown and the gorgeous diamond chandelier earrings which she designed specifically to match.

Love from New York

Hello! Jayse and I are shooting in the heart of Manhattan right now and loving it! Once I’m back in Vegas I’ll blog all about the recent happenings – including weddings, Style Me Pretty feature, e-shoots, and some rockin’ trash the dresses. But for now, I just wanted to share a quick image from my trash the dress shoot on Saturday in New York City.

It’s the very last shot of a really fun night with Dennise and Harvey in Times Square:

NYC Trash the dress | Times Square in the rain

As a super-quick summary, our trip started out right with a little excursion to Connecticut to see our favorite photographer couple Justin and Mary Marantz. We finally got to meet their dog Cooper (who catches apple pieces like no one’s business!) and see their amazingly capacious new house (with an expansive waterfront view that had Jayse and I considering moving right in with them!) Last night we had an engagement session in Central Park with the super sweet Billy and Laura (pix to come!) – and now we’re gearing up for a Trash The Dress in the Meatpacking District and Dumbo Brooklyn.

So far this trip has been amazing – all the people we’ve been able to hang out with have made this experience something I will treasure for a very long time. But no more time for reminiscing now! Time to grab a quick lunch and shoot shoot shoot!
