This is a story of boy meets girl. While Allan and Lara weren’t looking for love, it found them unexpectedly. March of last year they met in an online forum and instantly hit it off, starting a tradition of daily talks and weekly long-distance movie dates courtesy of Netflix. After three months of getting to know each other, Allan flew out to Florida to visit Lara in her hometown where she had planned a weekend of fun: mini golf, karaoke, Disney, the beach and the first of many IKEA dinner dates (where they became an official couple)! Fast forward to the present: Allan and Lara now share a cozy apartment in San Francisco and are getting married next May at the gorgeous Cornerstone vineyard and garden barn in Sonoma, California. I’m so excited for them, and can’t wait to be a part of their big day!
When brainstorming ideas for Lara and Allan’s engagement session, I knew we needed something that would match their quirky, fun-loving, creative personalities. We ended up deciding on a destination shoot in their home city of San Francisco, with the session being inspired from one of their favorite movies (and coincidentally one that shares a lot of similarities to their own relationship), (500) Days of Summer.
We started our day goofing off in the elevator at Lara and Allan’s apartment…From there we were off to cause some mischief in one of their favorite places, IKEA!
Next up on our adventure, we took stroll through the Haight district and ducked into a rad little record shop called Amoeba Music.
We topped off the night back at Lara and Allan’s apartment where we enjoyed a romantic view of the city coming alive from the rooftop.
Lara works for a greeting card company and made this sweet “I Love Us” card. :-) She’s also custom designing their wedding invitations. I got a sneak peek and can tell you it’s going to be awesome!
L + A: Thanks for a lovely day! I had a blast hanging out with guys on our mini-adventure and can’t wait to be a part of your wedding! :-)
