Elise & Brian’s Wedding

I was so excited when Elise told me that she and Brian were planning a ‘Royal Wedding in a Cow Pasture’ out on their family ranch in Cambria, Ca.

Now of course, I had no idea what a ‘Royal Wedding in a Cow Pasture’ was, as I’d never been to one, nor heard of one, and that made it even more exciting! But I did know, with Elise’s ultra creative talents pulling and sewing the proverbial strings, the day was going to be phenomenal. And it was!

I’m so happy to be able to share with you today just a tiny glimpse of how amazing the day was!

Talk about an entrance! Brian and Elise know how to travel in this amazingly magical horse drawn carriage.

The setting was simply gorgeous!

I loved the perfectly-mismatched wood chairs and bistro lights strung between the house and barn.Wine Country Wedding Reception

On each table were unique place setters with flowers and succulents in tin boxes and cement construction-blocks. Everywhere you went you would discover new elements of Elise’s personal touches.

This is a couple that knows how to have a good time! Elise said that when Brian first met her, all he had to do was follow the sound of her ‘loud laughter’. They are truly perfect together.

Wine Country Wedding ReceptionWine Country Wedding ReceptionI knew Elise and Brian both have backgrounds in music – but seeing them preform Jason Mraz ‘I Wont Give Up’ together will go down as one of my all-time favorite wedding moments. Somehow they managed to get one of the best bands I’ve ever heard at a wedding: The Rudy Parris Band, who is also the finalist from one of our favorite shows, The Voice (“Go Team Blake!”) These guys had the crowd jumping all night long to country greats, mixed with ACDC,  Sublime, and even a little Def Leopard – by request! rudy-parris-the-voice-wedding-band

Elise and Brian’s wedding was more than just a day where two love birds said their ‘I do’s – The entire day was a full, morning-to-night experience of sunny pastures, cool weather, and happy smiles from everyone that they love and cherish. I was so happy I got to be a part of it!

Oh, and of course I’m obliged to mention:

Savannah + Shane

Who could have guessed that a chance conversation, three years ago while on vacation, walking the Las Vegas strip, would lead to a marriage. Well sometimes it’s the simplest beginnings that lead to the strongest relationships. Savannah and Shane are living proof of this. They dated long distance for 2 years before settling in their current home in San Francisco.

To celebrate the next step of their adventures in life together, they decided to have their engagement photos in some of their favorite places close to home. The first of which are from Stow Lake, in Golden Gate Park:

One of Savannah and Shane’s favorite things to do is hike to pretty locations and have gourmet picnics. So, after boating around the lake, of course we just had to have a bite to eat in the meadow with their adorable maltese, Bexley (who will also be the ring bearer for their wedding).  I think he rather enjoyed it!

We ended our day enjoying the sunset along Baker Beach. :-)

Savannah and Shane will be returning to Vegas, where it all started, for an outdoor wedding at the gorgeous Legend’s Ranch. They’ve assembled an incredible team to pull off their vision, including the talented ladies at Scheme Events, so it’s bound to be an unforgettable affair! Check back this fall for their wedding photos. :-)

Liz & Jean

I’m so excited to introduce you to my good friends, Liz & Jean!

When they first met, Jean couldn’t get Liz out of his mind. After talking all night with her, he regretted not getting her number. But he just had to see her again. He found out about the pottery shop, The Artful Potter, she owned and decided to get a little creative. Employing the help of a friend’s child, he came to “paint pottery” as a ruse to see her again. When he found out she had already left for the day, he decided he had to cook up another plan. He left the little ceramic dog and returned a few days later to pick it up. This time he came at midday on a weekday so that he could be sure to bump into her. His plan worked. He asked her to dinner, and they went out that same night. And this time, he didn’t leave without her number.  In addition to being good friends, Liz & Jean are also great photographers and owners of Elizabeth Le Photography. I’ve gotten to know them quite well and knew we had to plan something as fun and lively as they are for their engagement session! After brainstorming ideas together, we decided on a 2-Part shoot starting at the L.A County Fair.
After the fair we headed to Griffith Park for part II! We made it just in time for the magical sunset. I loved the adorable tree swing and ‘Sweet Love’ plates Liz made for our shoot!

I can’t wait Liz and Jean’s wedding day next spring at the historic Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills! :-)

Kalie + Landon’s Wedding

Kalie and Landon are both awesome photographers and art enthusiasts. When they aren’t visting galleries, they can usually be found with camera in hand, traveling the world and exploring random places to create new art. In fact, that’s kind of how they met!

Landon was exhibiting his photography at the Go-Away Garage art gallery on Commerce Street. He saw Kalie at the show and it was love a first sight. Well, it was for him anyway. She took a bit of convincing. He followed her to a bar afterwards and “wouldn’t leave her alone.” Luckily his persistence paid off and he got the girl in the end!

Between their love for art and their chill, laid-back personalities, I knew immediately we’d ‘click’ (pun intended) and couldn’t wait to join them in their hometown of Wichita, Kansas for their wedding!

Their beautiful ceremony took place at the Wichita Country Club.

We blocked out some time on the wedding day to head down to Commerce Street (where K+L first met!) to get more photos. Kalie looked stunning – and Landon was looking suave!

Amber & Derik’s Tahoe Wedding

Amber and Derik are officially Mr. & Mrs! I must admit, I am absolutely crazy about this couple, so I’m thrilled to share a handful of images from their Lake Tahoe affair here on the blog today. :-)

When Amber and Derik first began their planning, they searched everywhere for a venue, from Mexico to San Diego to Hawii, before the perfect place finally hit them: Lake Tahoe. A place that’s very special to both them and their families.  It’s not only where they spend their summers boating and relaxing, but also happens to be the place where Derik put one knee down in the sand and proposed. Knowing how special this location was, and after having such a amazing time with them on our engagement session in Santa Barbara (featured on Style Me Pretty), I couldn’t wait to photograph their wedding! It took place in the romantic outdoor setting of Hyatt Regency Resort in Incline Village. Check out how gorgeous Amber looked!

Amber is a fantastic wedding planner based out of San Francisco and co-founder of A Touch of Grace. But on her wedding day she turned the reigns over to her team, so that she could relax and enjoy her special day to the fullest. They did a beautiful job bringing her vision to life. Here’s just a few of the lovely details…

Amber and Derik had one of the coolest wedding parties ever! Here everyone’s rocking the shades Amber & Derik got them as gifts.
Love the matching shoes and custom socks the guys were sporting! The ceremony took place on the beach overlooking the water.Following the ceremony, Amber and Derik made their way down the dock for some cocktails and a celebratory boat ride with their wedding party on the Tahoe Star!

Here’s one of the whole gang taken with my iPhone (couldn’t resist getting an image for Instagram!)

We topped off the wedding weekend with a sunset after-session.

Amber + Derik – I’m so glad I got to know you and your awesome family! Congratulations guys!! <3

You are so talented and brave! Some of those images by the water... you were in up to your waist! Jeans and all! We appreciate all of your hard work. Xo to you and Jayse!

September 7, 2012 - 11:00 am Juliet Douglas - Beautiful photos, Chelsea! Love the photos by the water!

Melissa + Sean

Though Melissa and Sean lived on opposite coasts (Sean in D.C. and Melissa in Long Beach), the distance didn’t stop the love that was first sparked via Match.com through what Melissa says was “the sweetest email!” After meeting online Melissa and Sean talked for 4 months before they were finally able to meet in person. With their second date lasting 14 hours, I think it’s safe to say they didn’t want to part! But luckily they won’t have to anymore. The pair just recently moved to Vegas where they are settling in and starting a new journey together. :-)

For their engagement session, Melissa and Sean took a short trip to Santa Monica for some play-time on the beach:

Afterward we headed to Griffith Observatory for a few more photos. It was evening by the time we got there, but it made for a beautiful view of the sparkling city lights below.

Stay tuned for photos from Melissa & Sean’s wedding from this past weekend! It was an incredible, fun-filled day and I can’t wait to share it. :-)
