Tanya & Sean’s Engagement

One of Tanya and Sean’s favorite things to do together is to explore new restaurants and bars – especially little-known spots and dive bars. Their first date was at just such a place, where they danced and laughed the night away to live jazz. For this engagement session, Tanya and Sean introduced me to one of their favorite spots, House of Shields, where we started the day off right with good conversation and some delicious hand-crafted cocktails:

Tanya and Sean’s wedding is coming up at the end of May at Red Rock Casino! With their talented coordinator Tory L. Cooper working behind-the-scenes, they have planned an incredible day.

T and S, I can’t wait to be a part of your day and see you make that very special walk down the aisle after so many years of friendship and love! Congrats guys!

Sybil & Eddie: Engagement

Stylish Desert Sand Dunes Engagement Session

Nearly nine years after their first encounter through mutual friends at a dance club – where Eddie wooed Sybil with his intriguing eyes and smooth moves on the dance-floor and Sybil captured Eddie, first with her beauty, then with her quick wit and down-to-earth personality – they are getting married! I can’t wait for the big weekend this August at the chic M Resort here in Las Vegas.

And for a little pre-wedding celebration, we went on a mini-adventure where we spent the day exploring, soaking up the warm desert sun and capturing just how perfect these two are together. <3

For more from these two, check out the killer behind the scene’s video Eddie & team put together from our shoot! http://vimeo.com/119097570

Also, I just have to share their sweet proposal video: https://vimeo.com/88863270 – Eddie & Sybil are both super creative (Eddie is also owner & the talent behind video production company Salty Tiers!) And with their love of unique and creative art, they share a quirky, fun tradition of collecting caricature drawings together wherever they travel. So, for his proposal, Eddie staged the ultimate caricature – one which ended with him on one knee and Sybil saying “YES!”  ^_^ Check it out above!

E+S: Had a blast with you guys & can’t wait to see you again soon for the big weekend!

Elise & Brian’s Wedding

I was so excited when Elise told me that she and Brian were planning a ‘Royal Wedding in a Cow Pasture’ out on their family ranch in Cambria, Ca.

Now of course, I had no idea what a ‘Royal Wedding in a Cow Pasture’ was, as I’d never been to one, nor heard of one, and that made it even more exciting! But I did know, with Elise’s ultra creative talents pulling and sewing the proverbial strings, the day was going to be phenomenal. And it was!

I’m so happy to be able to share with you today just a tiny glimpse of how amazing the day was!

Talk about an entrance! Brian and Elise know how to travel in this amazingly magical horse drawn carriage.

I loved the perfectly-mismatched wood chairs and bistro lights strung between the house and barn.Wine Country Wedding Reception

On each table were unique place setters with flowers and succulents in tin boxes and cement construction-blocks. Everywhere you went you would discover new elements of Elise’s personal touches.

This is a couple that knows how to have a good time! Elise said that when Brian first met her, all he had to do was follow the sound of her ‘loud laughter’. They are truly perfect together.

Wine Country Wedding ReceptionWine Country Wedding ReceptionI knew Elise and Brian both have backgrounds in music – but seeing them preform Jason Mraz ‘I Wont Give Up’ together will go down as one of my all-time favorite wedding moments. Somehow they managed to get one of the best bands I’ve ever heard at a wedding: The Rudy Parris Band, who is also the finalist from one of our favorite shows, The Voice (“Go Team Blake!”) These guys had the crowd jumping all night long to country greats, mixed with ACDC,  Sublime, and even a little Def Leopard – by request! rudy-parris-the-voice-wedding-band

Elise and Brian’s wedding was more than just a day where two love birds said their ‘I do’s – The entire day was a full, morning-to-night experience of sunny pastures, cool weather, and happy smiles from everyone that they love and cherish. I was so happy I got to be a part of it!

Oh, and of course I’m obliged to mention:

Savannah + Shane

Who could have guessed that a chance conversation, three years ago while on vacation, walking the Las Vegas strip, would lead to a marriage. Well sometimes it’s the simplest beginnings that lead to the strongest relationships. Savannah and Shane are living proof of this. They dated long distance for 2 years before settling in their current home in San Francisco.

To celebrate the next step of their adventures in life together, they decided to have their engagement photos in some of their favorite places close to home. The first of which are from Stow Lake, in Golden Gate Park:

One of Savannah and Shane’s favorite things to do is hike to pretty locations and have gourmet picnics. So, after boating around the lake, of course we just had to have a bite to eat in the meadow with their adorable maltese, Bexley (who will also be the ring bearer for their wedding).  I think he rather enjoyed it!

We ended our day enjoying the sunset along Baker Beach. :-)

Savannah and Shane will be returning to Vegas, where it all started, for an outdoor wedding at the gorgeous Legend’s Ranch. They’ve assembled an incredible team to pull off their vision, including the talented ladies at Scheme Events, so it’s bound to be an unforgettable affair! Check back this fall for their wedding photos. :-)

Liz & Jean

I’m so excited to introduce you to my good friends, Liz & Jean!

When they first met, Jean couldn’t get Liz out of his mind. After talking all night with her, he regretted not getting her number. But he just had to see her again. He found out about the pottery shop, The Artful Potter, she owned and decided to get a little creative. Employing the help of a friend’s child, he came to “paint pottery” as a ruse to see her again. When he found out she had already left for the day, he decided he had to cook up another plan. He left the little ceramic dog and returned a few days later to pick it up. This time he came at midday on a weekday so that he could be sure to bump into her. His plan worked. He asked her to dinner, and they went out that same night. And this time, he didn’t leave without her number.  In addition to being good friends, Liz & Jean are also great photographers and owners of Elizabeth Le Photography. I’ve gotten to know them quite well and knew we had to plan something as fun and lively as they are for their engagement session! After brainstorming ideas together, we decided on a 2-Part shoot starting at the L.A County Fair.
After the fair we headed to Griffith Park for part II! We made it just in time for the magical sunset. I loved the adorable tree swing and ‘Sweet Love’ plates Liz made for our shoot!

I can’t wait Liz and Jean’s wedding day next spring at the historic Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills! :-)

Kalie + Landon’s Wedding

Kalie and Landon are both awesome photographers and art enthusiasts. When they aren’t visting galleries, they can usually be found with camera in hand, traveling the world and exploring random places to create new art. In fact, that’s kind of how they met!

Landon was exhibiting his photography at the Go-Away Garage art gallery on Commerce Street. He saw Kalie at the show and it was love a first sight. Well, it was for him anyway. She took a bit of convincing. He followed her to a bar afterwards and “wouldn’t leave her alone.” Luckily his persistence paid off and he got the girl in the end!

Between their love for art and their chill, laid-back personalities, I knew immediately we’d ‘click’ (pun intended) and couldn’t wait to join them in their hometown of Wichita, Kansas for their wedding!

Their beautiful ceremony took place at the Wichita Country Club.

We blocked out some time on the wedding day to head down to Commerce Street (where K+L first met!) to get more photos. Kalie looked stunning – and Landon was looking suave!
