Frances & Eddie’s Travel Themed Engagement

I can’t wait for Frances & Eddie’s wedding coming up VERY soon (a month away from today!) at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and one of my favorite places: Vintner’s Grill here in Vegas. And today I have some photos to share from their recent engagement session. :-)

For Frances & Eddie’s e-shoot we knew we had to plan out something fun to fit their personalities. A couple of their favorite things to do together are to travel (they are world travelers and have been to Hawaii, Russia, Thailand, Cambodia and Costa Rica together) and, when not globe-trotting, hang out a their local Borders bookstore. They love to browse through the travel books and make plans for their upcoming adventures together.

So, this is exactly what we did for our shoot and it couldn’t have been more perfect… We got to chill out in one of their favorite places, and while I photographed they even snuck a little planning time in for their honeymoon in Greece!

Afterward we headed outdoors to play in the late afternoon sun and test fly some paper airplanes Frances and Eddie constructed out of the travel maps at the bookstore.

Eddie made this particular paper plane so that Waikiki Beach, the place where he proposed, would be right on the wing.

F+E: Love ya two! Jayse and I can’t wait for next month!!

Danielle & Keith

After meeting and falling in love, Danielle and Keith eloped last year shortly before they were both deployed for the Air Force. Since their wedding itself was a surprise to their friends and family, they planned a fun reception where once home again they could celebrate with all their loved ones.

We started our weekend with a couples shoot at Mt. Charleston. Danielle and Keith’s absolute favorite thing to do together is camping – and anything to do with the great outdoors. In fact, instead of flying they camped out across the states on the way to Vegas from their home-town in Alabama. So I thought a pretty hike and camping-themed  shoot was only fitting!

What’s camping without yummy S’mores?! Then Saturday was the party! Before heading to the reception location, we grabbed a few couples pictures around The Mirage where Danielle and Keith were staying.

The first dance of the evening was super emotional. Besides being able to finally celebrate their marriage, Keith and Danielle were also able to celebrate another amazing surprise - they’re pregnant! Their first dance song was “Then” by Brad Paisley – and I couldn’t stop myself from tearing up when it got to the part of the song where it talks about the baby on the way. Here’s the lyrics:

“I could just see you, with a baby on the way
And I could just see you, when your hair is turning gray
What I can’t see is how I’m ever gonna love you more
But I’ve said that before…

And now you’re my whole life
now you’re my whole world
I just can’t believe the way I feel about you, girl
We’ll look back someday, at this moment that we’re in
And I’ll look at you and say
And I thought I loved you then”

SO sweet.

Danielle + Keith: Thanks so much for including me in your celebration! And big big congrats on everything! I’m so excited for you guys and can’t wait to see your beautiful little girl. :-)

July 7, 2010 - 5:48 pm Ange K - Wow, it takes an artist to capture the emotion of a couple or event and these certainly do both. The love exudes from every creative photo and captures a realness as well. So honored to be apart of such an amazing celebration.

July 5, 2010 - 9:57 pm Keith Wolak - LOVE the pics Chelsea, so great to meet you and have you as part of our event.  The afternoon on Mt. Charleston was a great part of the weekend for us.  Can't wait to see the rest!!! Let us know when the camper plans come together, maybe we can meet up with you guys somewhere! Danielle will probably be too nice to correct the blog entry, but she deployed with the Army...her Air Force days were many years ago.

Nicole and Ozzy’s Engagement

Sometimes you just know. Ozzy and Nicole first met at the bank she worked at where he would always be sure to go to her for his deposits. One day he learned about her and her current boyfriend’s break-up (over text message of all ways), and Ozzy didn’t waste any time making his move. He smoothly turned on the way out and said, “So, want to go out?” Nicole just laughed it off thinking that he was teasing her. Luckily Ozzy’s very persistent and didn’t let that discourage him. He continued by asking for her number, and the next time into the bank, Nicole finally agreed on a date. A mere 6 weeks later, the pair were engaged! Sometimes you just know.

One thing I love about Ozzy and Nicole are their spontaneous go-with-the-flow personalities! They are definitely the perfect match. I had a blast hanging with them for the engagement session and I can’t wait for their wedding this September at the gorgeous Cili Restaurant at the Bali Hai Golf Club!

Rowena and J.D.’s Engagement

Jayse and I got together with Rowena and J.D. for their engagement session & fusion video which is going to be played on big screens at their wedding next summer. The wedding is going to be at The Ranch Golf Club in San Jose, CA and is bound to be gorgeous. :-)  I can’t wait!

One of Rowena and J.D.’s favorite things to do together is taking mini road trips and roaming about small towns. And we hit up a small gold-mining town where we could do just that for their engagement shoot! We had such an amazing time exploring and goofing off together.

She was definitely enjoying the unlimited new sights and smells to be found. Big thanks goes to J.D.’s brother, Jordan for watching the pup throughout our time there!

Elena and Alan’s Engagement

Last week Elena and Alan trekked out to Vegas from California to visit with family and get together for a engagement session! It had been some time since we’d seen each other, so it was a blast hanging out, catching up on things, and capturing some fun photos of them together. :-)

Alan’s an amazingly talented piano player. So, we started things out at my place, where his fingers graced our baby grand with the sweet notes of a song he wrote for especially for Elena. This is the same song that will be playing in May when she takes that very special walk down the aisle. I could have died! It was gorgeous. And it’s one of two songs that he not only wrote for her, but had professionally produced and recorded. How romantic is that?! *melt* You see, he’s the talent behind A Thin Line, with the recently released album: A Thin Line | Between Love And Hate. It’s available on iTunes and Amazon and is definitely worth a check out!

Announcing: Fusion Video Coverage!

I’m so excited to announce that I’m now offering fusion coverage! Below is an example of what could be played at the wedding or sent as video-invites. Kory and Trent are awesome musicians so we convinced them to bring their gear out to the desert for their engagement session. We had such a blast and this was the Fusion Video Jayse put together for them:

“What would we want for our ultimate wedding photography coverage?”

Jayse and I start many local-pub conversations this way. Of course we talk with our mouths half-full of way-too-fattening-nachos (extra jalapenos for me, extra olives for Jayse please).

“What would we want for our ultimate wedding?” It’s a guideline for everything I do and all of my product offerings. Over the past six months these conversations have led to one missing component from our ultimate wedding coverage: Video.

But, wait! I’m not talking about your typical hour-long all-encompassing video. While there’s definitely a place for that (and I would be happy to recommend some really cool local videographers if that’s what you’re looking for), Jayse and I agreed that the kind of video we LOVE and wanted for our couples is a short-n-sweet, stylized piece from the day.

Jayse is no stranger to film. While I am editing photos, Jayse is usually across the desk from me designing and creating neat visual effects shots for big blockbuster films like Wolverine or 2012. In fact he’s currently working on Oliver Stone’s sequel to Wall Street. We both love great cinematography and we love great stories. And we knew if something more like the films we loved could be captured, edited, color-toned and rendered into our eager little hands – we’d have something we’d be proud to show off – or share it on our iPhones – or upload to our Facebook page – or watch on a big-screen.

And thus, we are very excited to announce:

Fusion: photography style video

Fusion has been officially added to my new 2010 wedding catalog! Contact me for more details. Or, click here to find out a bit more about fusion and how it works!
