Kassie & Ryan’s Wedding + After Session

Kassie and Ryan’s ”cosmopolitan meets vintage chic” themed wedding was filled with one-of-a-kind, personal touches. As a creative couple (they are both photographers) they share a love for the arts, modern decor and fashion. They wanted a wedding that you can’t just buy off the shelf. And they had it! Las Vegas was the perfect destination for their unique celebration with family and friends, with the wedding taking place on the scenic grounds of the Springs Preserve. The ceremony was held in the Garden Arboretum, and the reception was in The Library with magical views of the strip. Here’s some of my favorites from their beautiful day.

Kassie looked absolutely breathtaking in her ornate St. Pucchi wedding dress (from the Avine Perucci Collection). The bodice was bead-encrusted, with silvery crystals that played with the sunlight.
The ceremony took place amidst the Springs Preserve’s lush botanical gardens, as the sun peaked through the trees. Over 24,000 pink rose petals lined the aisle.Circle City Designers did an incredible job on the floral and centerpieces. And as an added bonus, the reception room was filled with the soft auroma of the stargazer lilies, roses, and hydrangea.

Instead of a cake, there was a beautiful strawberry and lemon cupcake tower made by the talented girls at Gimme Some Sugar. I adored the little signs placed in some of the cupcakes with the sayings: “All you need is love” and “Love is all  you need”

In addition to all the pretty details on the day itself, Kassie & Ryan’s invites for the wedding were created by one of my favorite invitation designers and friend, Tifany of Gourmet Invitations! Click here to check out photos in Tifany’s blog post and the custom plexiglass invitations she designed. And while you’re there, you may want to peak around. I’m sure you’ll love her work as much as I do!

The day following the wedding, we met back up for a day-after session and some newlywed portraits in the Nevada desert.

To see and read more about Kassie & Ryan’s wedding, check out their real wedding feature in the May/June issue of Destination Weddings & Honeymoons Magazine (on the stands now)!

Big congrats to my ultra-fab couple! :-)

I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again – my brides and grooms totally rock! I’m so lucky to work with the coolest couples on the planet, and Kassie & Ryan were no exception. Not only are they super cool (the kind of people you love spending a fun-filled weekend with – filled with chic details, hardcore grooving on the dance-floor, ghost towns and desert sunsets), but they’re also fab fellow photographers who do awesome work as Apostrophe Studios in Indianapolis. Their creativity also spilled over into the design of their wedding day making it an absolute joy to photograph. And I’m excited share that it’s been published in the latest May/June issue of Destination Weddings & Honeymoons Magazine.

Congrats K&R!! I loved being a part of your wedding and am so happy you got the lovin’ you deserve! Also, big thanks to Lauren and the team at Destination Weddings for the fantastic spread and writeup.

As an added bonus, a were stoked to find out that an image of Kassie looking all stylish was selected for the inside front cover (contents) page!

The issue is brimming with great articles and inspiration – so be sure to pick up a copy at your local bookstore, or order a digital copy right through Destination Wedding Magazine’s website. Also, check back in the next day or two for a full blog post with lots more images from Kassie & Ryan’s beautiful Las Vegas wedding at Springs Preserve!

Miriam & John’s Wedding

Miriam (Mimi) & John met 8 years back as sophomores in college when they were introduced by mutual friends at The Village Inn restaurant. There was an instant attraction and their shyness lead to a sweet first moment that Mimi recalled to me: John said, “It’s very nice to meet you” to which Mimi replied, “Likewise.” Then he said it again: “It was really nice meeting you.” She found it super sweet and charming.

Together they share a unique love that revolves around both passion and a deep friendship. You may recall seeing their engagement session where we went star-gazing (one of their favorite past-times).

I adored the soft, delicate color-tones of the floral and bouquets designed by Teresa of Enchanted Florist. Here Mimi’s bridesmaid Doris is modeling the bridesmaid bouquet:Mimi & John’s ceremony took place at St. Joseph Husband of Mary Catholic Church.

Then afterward we were off for photos and the reception which took place in the beautiful setting of The Springs Preserve‘s Nevada State Museum.

Mimi & John: I love you guys and am so honored that I could be a part of your wedding and celebrate with your sweet family and friends! Big congrats to you both! I hope you had an incredible time together honeymooning it up in San Francisco. :-)

Frances & Eddie’s Travel Themed Engagement

I can’t wait for Frances & Eddie’s wedding coming up VERY soon (a month away from today!) at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and one of my favorite places: Vintner’s Grill here in Vegas. And today I have some photos to share from their recent engagement session. :-)

For Frances & Eddie’s e-shoot we knew we had to plan out something fun to fit their personalities. A couple of their favorite things to do together are to travel (they are world travelers and have been to Hawaii, Russia, Thailand, Cambodia and Costa Rica together) and, when not globe-trotting, hang out a their local Borders bookstore. They love to browse through the travel books and make plans for their upcoming adventures together.

So, this is exactly what we did for our shoot and it couldn’t have been more perfect… We got to chill out in one of their favorite places, and while I photographed they even snuck a little planning time in for their honeymoon in Greece!

Afterward we headed outdoors to play in the late afternoon sun and test fly some paper airplanes Frances and Eddie constructed out of the travel maps at the bookstore.

Eddie made this particular paper plane so that Waikiki Beach, the place where he proposed, would be right on the wing.

F+E: Love ya two! Jayse and I can’t wait for next month!!

September 19, 2010 - 9:23 am Meredith - FABULOUS PHOTOS!!! I especially like the close up ones of you both outdoors.  They capture the love you have for each other as well as the fun you have with each other :) BTW Francie I love love love the red dress on you!

September 11, 2010 - 2:00 am Eddie - Love the photos!  Wish I could claim the paper plane idea as my own, but then I'd be lying.  Chelsea, thank you so much for making this possible.  See you in less than a month!

September 7, 2010 - 10:45 am Vanessa Espinosa - What a handsome couple!  Love the travel theme.  Begs the question....  where will they end up next!?  Haha!

September 6, 2010 - 6:13 pm Emma - Truly wonderful photos of a very sweet couple.   I admire the creative vision of the photographer.    I like the richness of the red color of Frances' dress.   The colors just blend beautifully.

Makeup in the 702 did up her hair and makeup, and I was crazy about the chic Vera Wang wedding dress and long veil she was rockin’.

For her something blue, Whitney had the bottoms of her Stewart Weitzman shoes painted blue. It was such a creative touch – I loved it!

A BIG shout out must also go to Stephanie Smith who coordinated and made sure every detail was perfectly in place. I always love getting to work with Stephanie – she’s not only one of the most organized people I know, but has the biggest heart and gives her all to each and every couple.

And speaking of details, there was no shortage of eye-candy! I loved the combination of purples and greens and the old-fashioned bird cage holding the lovely programs by Bella Figura. Also, as an extra-special touch Whitney and John used the names of their honeymoon destinations in Africa for their table markers.Wedding details: programs & table names | Springs Preserve in Las Vegas

Style Me Pretty – Vegas Inspiration to Reality

As you probably already know, I have a very big crush on a certain ultra stylish wedding website (Style Me Pretty). Abby, Elaine and all the girls at SMP are my kind of people – also obsessed with details and pretty things. So I was absolutely delighted to be a part of their new feature called the “Inspiration to Reality Challenge.” I love the whole concept and how it works! Each region puts together a team of fantastic wedding vendors, then they choose an inspiration board designed by one of SMP’s readers and put their creative juices together to bring it all to life.

I’m beyond excited to share some photos from the Inspiration to Reality shoot that our Las Vegas team put together – and that it’s a 4-part feature on the front page of Style Me Pretty this weekend!

Our shoot took place at one of my FAVORITE ceremony and reception locations here Vegas, the gorgeous Springs Preserve! I loved how the blues popped against the warm desert backdrop. And our model bride, Gabi looked stunning with hair & makeup all done up by Allyson, Lauren & Monet at Las Vegas Style Sirens.

style-me-pretty-wedding-shoot-springs-preserve-las-vegas-2

The Vera Wang gown provided by Dawn at Couture Bride Salon was THE perfect fit. And the whole look and style was a great match for the vintage aviation theme Tracey (of Your Las Vegas Wedding Concierge) came up with based off the movie The Aviator.

I first saw this dress on Gabi a couple weeks before the shoot. A bunch of us girls were hanging out in the bridal salon while Dawn was trying different dresses on Gabi. It was too funny because it was almost as if we were her bridesmaids. When she came out with this gown on there was one big synchronized “Oohh!” It was definitely THE ONE.

The ensemble was topped off by Stella & Dot Jewelry from stylist Carrie Hogan and a fantastic blue veil from MUMO hair accessories.

style-me-pretty-wedding-shoot-springs-preserve-las-vegas-3Jesus (our groom – who also happens to be the Catering Manager at Springs Preserve) was looking pretty darn sharp as well.

Details, details, details – I was definitely lovin’ all the eye candy! From the amazing feather bouquet by Emplume, the totally unique cakelets by Kristen at Gimme Some Sugar (SO love this idea to have multiple smaller cakes rather than one main one, or in addition to the main one), signature drink by Dress the Drink, peacock chair decor by Wildflower Linens, beautiful centerpiece by Randi at Naakiti Floral, the invitations that arrive in a vintage steamer trunk by Tifany at Gourmet Invitations, and so much more!
