Happy 4th of July! Hope everyone’s having a great week filled with family, friends and good eats. :-)
And in celebration of sunshine and unforgettable times, I am so excited to have a beautiful summer-time wedding to share on the blog today. You may remember these two from their engagement session (click here to see how they met!) a couple months ago. Laura and Andrew were such a chill-yet-fun and exciting couple to be around, so I had been counting down the days to their wedding. It ended up being a perfect day, filled with their closest family and friends and set against the gorgeous backdrop of one of my favorite places, The Westin Lake Las Vegas.
Laura & Andrew chose to do a romantic ‘first look’ where they shared a private moment together prior to the ceremony. I loved Andrew’s reaction to seeing his gorgeous bride for the first time. She definitely took a few people’s breath away that day!
Laura’s stunning Tara Keely by JLM Couture dress fit her flawlessly as if it was designed just for her. One of my favorite details were the embroided floral appliques in the skirt.
Their reception was decorated in colorful hues of orange, cream and fuchsia, with floral by Enchanted Florist. The table numbers and menus were all hand crafted by Laura. I love it when my brides get creative and add personal touches like these – it makes everything come together in such a personal way.
We couldn’t end it there though! So, we got back together the following Monday for a trash the dress after-session out in the Nevada desert. Hair and makeup for both the wedding and after-session was rocked out by LaVey and Janine at Your Beauty Call.
Kassie and Ryan’s “cosmopolitan meets vintage chic” themed wedding was filled with one-of-a-kind, personal touches. As a creative couple (they are both photographers) they share a love for the arts, modern decor and fashion. They wanted a wedding that you can’t just buy off the shelf. And they had it! Las Vegas was the perfect destination for their unique celebration with family and friends, with the wedding taking place on the scenic grounds of the Springs Preserve. The ceremony was held in the Garden Arboretum, and the reception was in The Library with magical views of the strip. Here’s some of my favorites from their beautiful day.
Kassie looked absolutely breathtaking in her ornate St. Pucchi wedding dress (from the Avine Perucci Collection). The bodice was bead-encrusted, with silvery crystals that played with the sunlight. The ceremony took place amidst the Springs Preserve’s lush botanical gardens, as the sun peaked through the trees. Over 24,000 pink rose petals lined the aisle.Circle City Designers did an incredible job on the floral and centerpieces. And as an added bonus, the reception room was filled with the soft auroma of the stargazer lilies, roses, and hydrangea.
Instead of a cake, there was a beautiful strawberry and lemon cupcake tower made by the talented girls at Gimme Some Sugar. I adored the little signs placed in some of the cupcakes with the sayings: “All you need is love” and “Love is all you need”
In addition to all the pretty details on the day itself, Kassie & Ryan’s invites for the wedding were created by one of my favorite invitation designers and friend, Tifany of Gourmet Invitations! Click here to check out photos in Tifany’s blog post and the custom plexiglass invitations she designed. And while you’re there, you may want to peak around. I’m sure you’ll love her work as much as I do!
The day following the wedding, we met back up for a day-after session and some newlywed portraits in the Nevada desert.
Today I’m going to share some images of newlyweds Kristin & Greg! I met these two during their engagement session in 2010 and instantly fell in love with their easy-going nature and sincere personalities. That, along the affinity we share for haunted houses and horror movies! I knew we’d become fast friends.
While getting to know them, I found out that Kristin and Greg love exploring new places together – especially old buildings and places rich in history. We incorporated this into their wedding photography by getting back together a couple days after the wedding for a multi-location trash the dress at the Neon Museum (a collection of iconic neon signs that are being preserved as part of Las Vegas culture and history) and the beautiful nevada desert.
I love photographing couples that make me feel like I’m just out having a good time with friends. This shoot was non-stop laughs. We laughed A LOT. And on top of being such fun people to be around, I loved their unique style – from Alex’s collection of Pancaldi ties to Tracy’s little blue number and stylish shoes. It was so much fun to capture them together and I’m excited to share a few sneak peek images here on the blog.
Shout-out goes to Your Beauty Call for rockin’ Tracy’s hair and makeup!Check out Tracy’s hot Christian Louboutin‘s that Alex got her for the shoot. Good gift giver – not a bad quality to have in a husband. ;-)I can’t wait for the wedding this spring at Four Seasons! It’s bound to be amazing – especially with uber-fab Brit Bertino of Simply Weddings coordinating!
Simply put, this engagement session makes me happy. Kayla and Sean couldn’t be more perfect for each other and it was such a thrill to be able to capture that special something they share. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding (only 18 days to go)!
Kayla & Sean, I had a blast with you guys! Thanks for being so trusting and open to my ideas.
